The Chelsea Domestic Violence Task Force
Community Solutions to Ending Violence
A community wide needs and resources assessment conducted by Massachusetts General Hospital identified domestic violence as the city's most critical issue. The Chelsea Domestic Violence Task Force is committed to working with the entire community toward ending violence. Chelsea's coordinated community response employs culturally enriched violence prevention strategies that enhance the community's power and pride, and coordinated supportive services and institutional responses that work effectively for survivors and their families. An open and inclusive multicultural collaboration, the Task Force convenes community events, participatory planning sessions and public information campaigns to raise awareness and facilitate access to support resources to address family violence.
It Takes a Team Effort
The Task Force membership includes residents and agencies that work together to address domestic violence in the context of the whole family and broader community. Key members include: Chelsea Community Connections Coalition, the Chelsea Community CARE Network, HarborCOV, Chelsea Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP), Centro Latino de Chelsea, and CAPIC (Community Action Program Inter-City), The City of Chelsea, the local DSS office, Chelsea Police Department and the DA's office.
