A Taste of Chelsea 2007 (coming Sept. 10, 2007)

The 4th Annual Taste of Chelsea will take place on September 10, 2007 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Massport facility at 62 Broadway in Chelsea. $25 for advance purchases of 10 or more tickets, $30 per person for purchases of one to nine tickets and $35 at the door. Taste of Chelsea provides financial support for HarborCOV community services, generates publicity for commercial sponsors and local restaurants, and offers a scrumptious taste-testing experience for the hundreds of people who attend. We look forward to seeing everyone in September 2007!

Benefit Performances Support HarborCOV

The Wheelock Family Theater at Wheelock College and Winthrop Playmakers recently hosted benefit productions of The Vagina Monologues with all proceeds donated to HarborCOV. The productions were scheduled in conjunction with 2007 V-Day activities to raise awareness and funds for local organizations working to end violence against women and girls.

A Taste of Chelsea 2006

The third annual Taste of Chelsea was a great success! The event featured live entertainment and the Phantom Gourmet’s own Dan Andelman as Master of Ceremonies. Taste of Chelsea provides financial support for HarborCOV community services, generates publicity for commercial sponsors and local restaurants, and offers a scrumptious taste-testing experience for the hundreds of people who attend. Thanks to all who participated. 

HarborCOV launches Massachusetts' first permanent affordable housing for families affected by Domestic Violence

January 2003 marked the opening of Casa Maribel, the first transitional-to-permanent housing designed specifically to for survivors and their children who have lost their homes because of domestic violence. Named for a local woman stabbed to death one Saturday morning by her boyfriend on a main street, Casa Maribel includes three affordable apartments, the first of 50 to be developed over the next five years through HarborCOV's Community Housing Initiative. This innovative program was developed to provide safe, affordable housing for those affected by domestic violence while empowering them toward family, economic and community stability. It is the first in the state of Massachusetts to provide a continuum of care that helps families achieve self-sufficiency. Read Press release

HarborCOV selected for national Success Measures Project

HarborCOV has been selected by the Development Leadership Network in Boston and McAuley Institute in Maryland to take part in a national Success Measures Project to help define and evaluate the impact of our work in the community. Participation includes a significant commitment to receive technical assistance, use technology-enhanced evaluation and planning instruments, and train and exchange with peer community-based organizations across the country. Overall, project participation will help us establish community-benefit outcome goals and effectively document the impact of our programs and services.

HarborCOV honored for its work on Domestic Violence

HarborCOV was one of three organizations selected nationally by Marshalls of the TJX companies to be highlighted for its work on preventing domestic violence. The fourth-annual Marshalls' Women in Comedy Festival kicked off in Boston in September and featured HarborCOV as the event's charity of choice.
