Casa Maribel
Emergency Housing for Safe Communities
On Jan. 21, 2003, HarborCOV announced the opening of Casa Maribel, the Community Housing Initiative's first three-family home, and Massachusetts' first permanent, supportive housing for families who have moved beyond domestic violence.
Unlike shelter or transitional housing, Casa Maribel welcomes these families to stay long-term, set down roots and plan for a successful future as good neighbors and active citizens in Chelsea.
Named for a local woman murdered by her boyfriend on a busy Chelsea street in 1998, Casa Maribel provides safe, affordable housing while HarborCOV's supportive services empower those affected by domestic violence to achieve family, economic and community stability.
